I dont go to the games of my alma mater.
Why?
Well let me clarify. I meant to say I dont go to any games of my alma mater. I root for them, and hope they win, but it doesnt affect me if they lose.
Ah, I see now. I'm like that for pretty much every sport except for football... actually, I don't pay much attention to any other sport period.
That's why I try to enjoy football season while it lasts... because it sure goes by fast.
that's cool man, I was just being nosey. I don't dislike anyone just because they don't root for GC, or their high school. but I see where your coming from man, again sorry if that offended you, I meant no harm. That's what I hate about talking on these forums you can never tell a person's demeanor, unless it's obvious.
no offense taken
Here are my picks for 2006 Football
1. Powell Valley
2. Gate City
3. Appalachia
4. Pound
5. Burton
6. Clintwood
7. Kelly
8. Coeburn
Burton at #5. they bring almost everyone back. It will be tight between them and Appy for #3
"Division 2
Haysi. Regardless of who leaves Haysi, Colley and the gang will be back for another run at the Region. QB Lance Compton and TE Joe Yates return next year for the Tigers. I believe they will repeat this year's performance in 06"
Yes they do have some guys coming back but I do not see them winning the region next year. I think they will be favored to win the BDD and I see them doing it but I believe they will lose in the regional playoffs. I feel like they could possibly make it by the first round depending on how things shake out and what kind of match up they get but I'm pretty sure PV or GC will win the Region next year.
"Gate City wont ever finish worse then 3rd. Ever."
I hate to see anyone use the words "ever" or "never" when talking about sports. Trust me man it WILL happen...it may not be next year or the year after but eventually it WILL happen unless they leave the district or they realign to where there are only 3 teams in the district.
Just ask "blacknobility" about saying "never"...he had to eat his words less than two months later.
1. Pv
2. Gc
3. Appy
4. Burton
5. Pound
6. Clintwood
7. Wise
8. Coeburn
And this past year clintwood didnt have 2 junior they had 4. Cj logan, me and cody Nowlin. So we wont have many seniors this season which isnt good for us. We have 2 returning o line starter and logan stanley at wr. and on d our line and linbackers we only have 2 returning starters there. We will have 2 of the 3 secondary back.

but even with all that i dont "dislike" gc football...just dont get into it like 98% of the town
[/ QUOTE ]
You mean 70%. The fan base at GC just isnt what it used to be. They are not as loud as they used to be. From what I saw all season long they just were not into the games like in the past.
1. Burton - got a lot of good athletes coming back
2. PV - the young players are overhyped in my opinion
3. Appy
4. Clintwood - had some good young players Rick will get them in the mindset of where they need to be. They lost some games purely on mental toughness. Not skill
5. GC - lose almost everything but still could get 3rd or 2nd even. I mean it is gate city.
6. Kelly - they will win a couple and possibly get an upset or 2
7. Pound
8. Coeburn
D1 champs - Burton
D2 champs - Haysi or PV
How many does GC lose?
I thought GC was playing a bunch of freshmen and soph's.
That is what I was thinking.
Does anyone know how many starters GC does lose?
1.) Powell Valley
2.) Burton
3.) Gate City
4.) Appalachia
5.) CLintwood
6.) Pound
7.) Kelly
8.) Coeburn
From what I seen on Channel 30 over the end of the season, they will lose 3 full-time starters off of offense and 3-4 off of defense. That's just what it appears from the games I watched after Friday nights, I could be wrong though.
GC will be a good team next year that will play for the regional title.. I picked them 3rd.. but I was torn between 2nd and 3rd for them.. and ill agree with Nola they prolly will never finish below 3rd as long as colobro is there..
Will they air any more of the football games on channel 30? I am new to cable and so far have watched the end of the State Championship Volley ball game and the end of the GC vs. VA High B-ball game.
Losing 10 seniors out of 60+ players doesn't sound like they lost everything. Everyone got playing time and they'll be just fine next year. Another case of people talking about something they know nothing about.
1 PV
2 Norton
3 Appy
4 C-Wood
5 Pound
6 Kelly
7-Coeburn
8-Gate City
You got that all wrong Biggin! GC and PV will be fighting for last place next year!
Fixed.
1 PV
2 Norton
3 Appy
4 C-Wood
5 Pound
6 Kelly
7-Coeburn
8-Duke

Then may the Lord himself go on the path before you...following Chubz and his ideas, informed yet inexperienced as they may be, is a sure path to failure.
You hadn't said anything stupid yet Viking_69_...why start now???
1. Gate City
2. Powell Valley
3. Burton
4. Appy
5. Clintwood
6. Pound
7. Kelly
8. Coeburn
You take this stuff far, far too seriously, man. It's a message board... why not have some fun?
I don't know chubz. How can talk about somebody throwing wobbles and ducks when yourslef have never played the game. No one qb is perfect everytime. Yeah you can practice throwing everyday, but i can bet that you throw ducks yourself.
I do throw wobblers every now and then, because I myself am still having trouble learning how to get it just right.
It can be done, however. I've even seen a number of quarterbacks from this area that could throw spirals most of the time. Doesn't mean they're the best, however... I just love the way it looks when the ball is release and just starts spinning round and round perfectly until it reaches its intended target... the smoothness and perfection of it all just bewilders me.

[/ QUOTE ]
Yeah--I can throw a spiral most of the time. It can be done. But just because a kid that is a consensus #1 HS QB in the nation doesn't do it EVERY time doesn't mean he isn't the best. You haven't seen him play much in game situations. And I don't care how good you are, you can't throw one EVERY time. even the best maybe out of 100 throws have 90 PERFECT spirals...and that's on a good day. You put your sights way too high when you're judging someone else.
And I asked you not to whine about "making it personal". You do it everytime...why not take it like a man? You won't get far in life portraying yourself as the victim when someone challenges your ideas. Plus, I take it personally that I've actually played this sport you profess such love for...and you make a mockery of it. I'm sure some other people feel the same.
And if you're wrong, which you are 90% of the time, I'm gonna call you on it. So get used to it. You're far from the picture of perfection that you have of yourself in your head, especially when it comes to throwing a football, or talking about it at least. Just remember, when you point the finger at someone, there's 100 more pointing right back at you. Judge lest ye be judged. Live with it--that's life pal.
btw--I saw where you edited that one post to me...what'd you spout your mouth off about that you had to edit out???

Most of the program about Tim Tebow showed him in nothing but game situations.. it showed them playing several teams, and had loads of footage from every game. Most of his throws were extremely accurate (even some sweet bombs), but I just happened to notice that they had quite a wobble to them. I'm not saying he's a bad quarterback, I'm just saying that from the #1 prospect I kind of expected more perfect technique. I understand that nobody is perfect, but you can be pretty darned close to it if you try.

I don't think I'm perfect, I just think that I have what it takes to be good if I were to put myself up to it. Now that it's getting colder and colder, I'm having less and less time to pass football outside. Yes, it sickens me and leaves me with nothing to do but watch ESPN just about all day long since it's about the only channel I can half stand... or at least while I'm not at school. Heck, I even have a football right beside me right now.. haha. Here's a little picture taken by my webcam:

I edited it to correct spelling and change around wording to make it easier to read and understand.
Most of the time instead of checking out the "Preview", I just post, and if it doesn't look right, that's what the Edit button is there for.
I didn't say anything else - what you're seeing above is what I originally had to say.

I speak for tons of respected people on this board when I tell you if you don't think you're perfect...then quit acting like you are and that you're mr. know-it-all when it comes to this stuff. You come across as a pompus arrogant a$$.
You're judging the #1 QB in the nation with ONE montage you saw on ESPN. ONE. Not that you went to see the kid play, not that you have sat down and watched him play an entire game on tape, etc...that gives your opinion TONS of credibility. Do you think before you type anyways?

Yes, but then you'll whine, moan, and complain about how they're attacking you if they disagree. That's your modus operandi. Can you get more arrogant? I really don't think so...it's no way to go through life.
And I think others will agree with me that if you don't have something better and more interesting to use that webcam for than to take pictures of your football, then you live a S.A.D life. You're atypical...that's for sure...

Stop it... I'm going to cry.
Go cry and then come back and act like a man...you want all this credit for your opinions, but you can't get any b/c you have zero respect for others, just the way you carry yourself on here I can tell that, AND, I know from talking to other people that go to Coeburn with you. You gotta remember--I'm alumni, and I still know a lot of people...so I know what I've heard about you and the first-hand interaction with you on here...you're arrogant, cocky, and a know-it-all that has no substance to back any of that up.
The only reason I waste time on you is b/c you detract from the fun on this board and the intelligent sports discussions we have on here for the most part. You've fallen short and far from perfect on being a part of this community.
You say that you know how I am by talking to people from Coeburn about me...
You don't even know who I am, man. I'm not the crazy guy on this forum. I'm a quiet, gentle person that hardly says much. I'm not a showoff, and I have respect for others around me.
Who exactly said these things about me? I'd like to know their name(s). P.M. me if you have to.
You don't deserve to know. I told you in the past if you actually wanted to ball up and meet me and show your "true self" then you could come to a Coeburn basketball game. I'll be there to see the PV/Coeburn game tomorrow night...near the Crazies. I won't be hard to find. No threats there, just want to let you know exactly who you're dealing with when you're thinking I'm stupid and making assumptions about what I have to say. I think if you'd meet me then you'd better understand what I'm trying to say about everything. If you want to, that's fine...no pressure. If not, then it's your loss.
I don't come to basketball games.
Next year, when football season is back in full swing, I may come to one or two games. I'll see what you have to say then.

Cop out.
You also once told me you were all about knowledge too. Why not actually go and watch a HS basketball game? Esp. at Coeburn it's a great atmosphere, and you'd gain some knowledge about basketball, plus you'd gain knowledge about who I am and what I mean. It takes as much "social courage" to go to a basketball game as a football game. Why not go?
It's really simple...come on down. Say hello. Meet me. Catch the game...no pressure involved. Enjoy yourself. Either that or cop out and say "I don't watch basketball games".
